Day Respite

Willow club

St. Paul's Willow Club (day respite service) is for children age 5 to 18 with a diagnosis of autism who live in North Dublin.

A safe environment

We offer families a much-needed break by giving their children a safe environment to socialise and gain skills in. All supported by our experienced team. This service is available after school hours, on weekends, and during school holiday time.

Activities

We encourage children to be as independent as possible and to take part in activities they enjoy. The grounds surrounding the Willow Club are secure making it a safe space to explore.

For example:

  • playing in our garden or using the playground equipment
  • using our cycle track
  • using our climbing wall
  • enjoying the ball pit
  • spending time in our outer-space room
  • relaxing in one of our rest areas

Benefits to your child

Children who attend Willow Club can develop their:

  • social skills
  • physical health
  • leisure skills
  • living skills
  • participation in the community
  • decision making skills

Benefits to you

When your child comes to Willow Club, you will:

  • get a break for you and your family, benefiting your mental health and wellbeing
  • maintain or build your ability to continue caring for your child at home
  • building skills in your child that may make life easier at home
  • get support during especially challenging times, such as school holiday time
  • get practical training from our clinical team that you can use at home

We really appreciate the ‘break’ for us parents. Respite gives the opportunity to spend time with our other child. We understand that the respite services are very good for our child’s development too. It gives our child the chance to socialise with people other than his family and reinforces self-care and other skills.

I want to tell you that I am extremely grateful for the service and that it has been a godsend in recent months.
